Linda Dana
Linda Dana loves rocks. It’s that simple. As the owner of Hoopla, she creates jewelry with what she loves. “I have always been fascinated with rocks, beads, art, and jewelry,” says Dana. “When I’m designing jewelry, I look for bold, eclectic, and fun materials. I have to love it. My designs incorporate natural stones and sterling silver, as well as handmade glass beads.”
Currently, Dana’s areas of expertise include pearl knotting, gem setting, silver-casting, silver fabrication, and wire-wrapping. She makes her own glass beads and cabochons for use in her jewelry. “Although I have many interests in jewelry, I like to work with natural stones. They each have a personality of their own. Each is so unique,” she says.
Continuing to learn is important to Dana. “I have taken almost any class I could find over the years in beading techniques, silversmithing, silver-casting, and stone setting, I ’ve also received a certificate in diamond setting from Robert Wooding.” A member of the Midland Beading Guild, she has served as its vice president and program chairperson since 2004.
